The inebidible reshaping of the world as Earth approaches 3c warming rate
The Inevitable Re-Shaping of the World
Nearly every continent on the world is on track to have one of its major coastal cities, which are all densely populated and are economic and social super centers in their regions, sink permanently underwater. This is estimated and projected to happen within the next 75 years or so. The official estimated time is around the year 2100. These cities will sink due to the increasing climate causing sea levels to rise.
Although the entire world will be effected by this crisis, Asian countries will be effected disproportionately. Given the general volatility of the Southern Pacific and also the fact that many asian countries are just small islands, puts this group in the greatest danger. For example, Osaka, Japan which is one of the countries biggest port cities is on track to be completely submerged by 2100. This would displace a whopping 5.2 million people! Another country that would be greatly effected would be China as they are on pace to lose half of Shanghai to the sea by 2110. This would displace some million people as well as destroy precious infrastructure and costal farmland in the area.
Some other considerable places that will be effected is Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as well as Miami, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. Not to mention many parts of Central Europe will be greatly flooded and effected.
This can all be mitigated if we start now. Even with current global efforts, the climate is still rising at an astounding 2 degree celcius per year! Also, current projections show that it is only going to get worse and once we reach the 3 degree Celsius increase point, irreversible damage will have been done. The Earth is currently on track to hit that point in 77 years. We are literally a generation away from causing the inedible end of human existence. Action must be taken now. (312 words)
